I have had good luck with two types of Crescent matboard with Arches natural (not bright) white. When I used to use the cheaper matboard, I liked the Crescent "Palm Beach White." Sorry I don't remember the number. It matched the color of the paper nicely, and it had a little bit of texture that worked well with the texture of the paper. I discovered, though, that sometimes folks (my mother in particular) didn't re-mat my pieces when they acquired my work, and so I switch to museum grade Crescent board. I am now using Crescent #1531, which is 100% cotton, archival mounting board. I like it because it is off white on one side, which works nicely with Arches paper, and it is cream colored on the other side, which works well with tinted paper. I was concerned for a while because Crescent described it as "mounting board" and not "mat board." I called Crescent and asked them about the difference between mounting board and mat board, and evidently there's not much difference. They are the same thickness, etc. |

why don't you telephone the reps at Joe's? The folks on the phone typically do artwork themselves and are always friendly and helpful. You'll get a good answer that way. |

I need to purchase some matboard and would like to know if someone can tell me which white or off-white Crescent matboard is the best color match to Arches watercolor paper? Thank you. |
