I think they reformulated it from napthol red to pyrrole red because it disappears from some color charts and there is a disagreement on the pigment. I know they revamped their line recently. I just don't use WN much anymore--it was with Grumbacher my chief paint for years and I still love their quin rose and rose madder best. |

Thanks Joanna. I managed to get to the W/N site and it is listed as a "new" paint. I interpret that they have used it now - others have been manufacturing it long before then |

Winsor red deep is at d ick bl ick and it's pyrrole red. Not listed on all the charts but they seem to still make it. By the way, Joe's American Journey has some wonderful reds--I use a lot of them. There is a new red, Joe's Red which I think is a pyrrol red. Red Hot Momma is a napthol red, and the rest except for the cadmiums are variations on PV19 (quin violet.) I use a lot of DS's reds and Maimeri has my favorite red which is Tiziano Red, a quin coral that dilutes up to make rosy flesh and lip tones. |

I couldn't find another thread to put this in. Margaret M Martin lists her palette in Watercolor 2008; winsor red deep is listed as one of them. I googled for the product specs of this 'paint' but cannot find it anywhere. I couldn't find the artist's email address either to get the details. Anyone familiar with this paint |
