The Maroon Handled Freebie brush is available at Cheap Joe's. It's the American Journey Brush. Same brush, different color handle!

Legend Brushes are coming back... Have no fear! We ran into some quality issues and want to make sure you guys have the best brushes we can find. So we've pulled the stock in order to maintain Legend's great name.

I suppose I am the gazillionth person to request this, but the freebie brush from the Summer festivities (the one with the maroon handle) was pretty fantastic. I talked to one of the reps at CJAS and it was a one-off thing but I'd love to buy more like it. It has a great feel and works the best of any synthetic wc brush I've tried. It was a very nice gift and I'd buy them as regular brushes for every day painting.

Anna,
Marie had a good Legend replacement suggestion with the Magic Dragons Line.
For holding water and color, the Cheap Joe's natural is also a good fit, although they do feel a bit different.

Grizrev,
Da Vinci Brushes and Da Vinci Paint are (confusingly enough) 2 completely different companies.

Im not privy to all the details there, but for whatever market and supply reasons, CJAS just decided to go in a different direction regarding da vinci brushes. thats not to say we wont have them in the future, but there are no plans to pick them up again presently.

Graphitegrunt,

Is there any particular reason that Cheap Joes carries da Vinci paint but doesn't carry da Vinci brushes?

Sorry! The Legend Brushes are not discontinued. However, they are unavailable because of supply problems at the moment. We are working hard on the issue and hope to have them available again as soon as possible.

The CJAS Magic Dragons (I'm not sure of the name, they are Tajmir sables with blue handles.) are good, in fact I kinda prefer them to the Legends. My other choices are Raphael 8404's, sometimes available on Ebay, and da Vinci's in whatever style you prefer. Dakota Brushes carries the full line of da Vinci's at a fairly reasonable price.

Why are the Legend brushes discontinued? And what type of brush do you all recommend as a good replacement; sable, holding water and color well, yet affordable?

Thanks!
