One favorite DVD is Robert Wade's "Watercolor: Wade's Way", which is worth it's price just for the final demo on the DVD. Everything he says is right on target. My other favorite is John Salminen's DVD. It's at a more intermediate to advanced level, and it's absolutely terrific. |

Hi All, Am new to this community, and am jumping in as if I "know" something. Just want to share info about a few DVDs I own and have found helpful. John Lovett does a series of ten minute DVDs, which are good and just long enough for me to get what he is offering and go try the techniques on my own. $7.50 each. Also, I own several of Karlyn Holman's DVDs ... the quality of the production is not the greatest, but the lessons are often worthwhile. Would love to know of some other titles, because I, too, can't get to many workshops! |

I picked out eleven DVDs/videos for less than the price of one workshop...I'm excited and now looking forward to the snow and bad weather. I also look forward to sharing the good stuff with others in this forum. |

A, As I said before: Folks can post as often or as infrequently as they like. If you are merely trying to fire up the board, thats certainly fine. However, If "holding up your end" means only sporadically chiding others for not posting much as you think they should, that's not particularly helpful. |

Grizrev & Whitewatercolor, the longer clips will probably not be completed anytime soon, as we are rebuilding the site and those have taken a lower priority in the grand scheme. The new site will have customers product reviews available. Were pretty excited about that. We will also be putting some more Joe's lesson very soon. I'll repost this in a more suitable thread as well. |

Nothing in the fall--I guess you guys are proving me wrong--but why did it take my pointing out a lack of activity for three months to get anyone to say anything. Over the years i've done this several times--hold up your ends. |

I've picked out several of the videos that do have clips shown on Joe's website. I'll post something about each one I purchase. I've also looked up some rental places. I may rent some others. If I do, I'll comment on them also. It would be nice if we set up some criteria on which to rate videos. Any suggestions? Maybe we can develop some general areas to comment on. |

Whitewatercolor, Grunt supposedly is working on getting longer segments of the DVDs Cheap Joe sells uploaded to the web. I haven't heard anything about it recently, but it should give everyone a better idea of what is offered on the DVDs and the quality of instruction. If any of you on this board have seen some of those instructional DVDs, I'd love to hear your summaries, comments and evaluations. "A" and "Anonymous Painter," if your purpose in being irritating was to get a rise from some of the regular participants on the board, you can see that you succeeded -- but I think you could have chosen a more friendly and helpful way of restarting discussions. Posts that are illicited by irritation are often not our best. Why don't you become a contributor, rather than a critic and a freeloader? It's Christmas! Get in the spirit! |

Thanks Eugene. Hope you are doing well. I'll see what the watercolor society has available. I think it would just be nice to have some visual stimulation this time of year. |

Whitewater, sorry I can't help, I've never used any DVD's, So I can't reccommend any. If I were you I'd Just pick an artist whose work I really admire. and start there. Also our PA watercolor society will rent them to you. google Pennsylvania Watercolor Society for information. Eugene |

I'm not sure what you mean "please don't twist my words." I'm encouraging you to participate and interact. For me, spring, summer and fall, (up until Christmas) are too busy to look outward. I find this site to be a really helpful learning tool between Christmas and spring. Sorry if anything I said was taken personally. |

Please don't twist my words. I may have posted this the last few days before christmas but if you bother to read my words it is based upon LITTLE OR NO ACTIVITY FOR OVER THREE MONTHS. (except of course for this thread that is ironically suddenly very active!) Rest in Peace watercolor message board. |

Okay "A" let's get it going. Here it is the last few days before Christmas...the culmination of a lot of painting pressure. Next comes the time when a lot of us are snowed in and ready to contemplate our artistic growth for the next year. Some on this list seem to like everything categorized and responded to according to list, which, for me, seems to segment the discussion in a way that breaks the flow and losses some. I'd rather live in the present than worry about categorizing my comments for the future. So, keeping in mind that I may elicit more reprimands and corrections than useful comments, but I would still like to ask for recommendations for instructional DVDs. I don't have quality workshops available within 100 miles and am wondering if there are any instructional DVDs out there that simulate a workshop experience? I am interested in transparent watercolor only. The more advanced the better. Any ideas? I'm going through the DVDs offered by Joe's and have picked out several but I'd like to hear some discussion. |

You are are dropping by to see nothing happening for three months. Since none of you are making anything happen, I suggest acknowledging the loss and moving on. Rest in Peace --it once was a good group. Now defunct. There is no activity on this group save people claiming there actually is! Delusional. |

I drop by sometimes, notice my handle (sorta) appears at the end of several threads as last post-er (still???), and run away again. |

Yes, I too am still here. Life is very hectic right now but I will be back. R.I.P. I am sorry your life is so mundane that all you have to do is come here and annoy us. |

RIP "A" You seem extremely concerned. Especially since you are an unregistered guest who is afraid to identify himself. Again,RIP! I think things will start moving again after the holidays when we aren't so busy. |

I'm still here, but I have been really busy -- two shows running simultaneously, more teaching than usual, and still trying to squeeze in some painting. This board does get quiet periodically, but it always springs back. |

Dear "A" If RIP is intended to bless those who have worked hard in contributing to this board and now wish to "rest in peace" for a while, thank you. Many people have invested a lot of time and effort on this board to freely share their knowledge and ideas, and this past year has been especially intense. I join you in thanking them and wishing them at least the peace of this Christmas time of year. If RIP is intended as some kind of derision, announcing the death of this board and this particular forum, your comment is not welcome. You may be one of those who rides along comfortably, benefiting from (reading) the efforts of others without making any contribution of your own, or at least making an effort to contribute. Perhaps it's time for someone who have been silent, or who hidden himself or herself as an unregistered "A" or "Anon" or "Nona," to begin to contribute.} |

Folks can post as often or as infrequently as they like. The board will be here waiting for them, as always. If its quiet for a while, then its quiet for a while. |

Check the dates of the last meaningful activity--Christmas is not what this is about. Lack of interest. Everyone waiting for someone else to post. It's over. RIP |

Everything seems to quiet down before Christmas as everyone is decorating, running around buying gifts (as I SHOULD be doing), finishing paintings that are intended as gifts, etc. The watercolour group that I paint with are becoming fewer and fewer in number as we get closer to Christmas! I keep going, instead of doing the things I should be doing and which I'll end up doing on December 24th.... I figure, why change a yearly tradition? LOL! I'm new here and am having fun reading back over the older posts to get an idea of who's who... There are many fine artists who write on this board!! |

May this board rest in peace for lack of interest, ie. participation. |
